Don’t worry what people say or what people think. Be yourself.

We have all heard this more than we wanted but it actually makes sense. Once you know your true self, you would be capable of achieving almost everything you wish for. And this is what all the rant is about. Since most of us are unable to identify our true selves and our true desires, everyone asks us to know ourselves better.

But what is our true self?

Okay! Let’s just agree to the fact that we need to be our true self in order to succeed. But which true self are we talking about? Is it the one we were born with? Or the one which education gave us? Or the one we grasped from the environment we lived in?

You have seen yourself change over years, I have witnessed the same and in fact, everyone has been through the same ordeal. And if it is to be believed, we never are our true selves. This sounds complicated, right? Let’s try to figure it out the scientific way.

We have different parts of the brain that performs different functions. We are born with few reactionary functions. Some of us don’t like loud noises and many different instincts based on our genes. When we are born, we don’t know the difference between what we see. We see everything to be the same, be it our mom, dad or anything as a matter of fact. As we grow up, we perceive different things as reality and we grow up to be a part of it. We learn different things, grasping everything that comes to us.

Society plays an important role too!

After this part, we are just putting a final touch to our personality and figuring out how to get along with our society, its needs, and its requirements. In our teenage years, we are mostly working on the development of our physical bodies. After that, we tend to make some final adjustments in our personality which most of us carry forward.

So, there are two ways to look at our personality now. First is when we are born. We are born with DNA and genes inherited from our parents and that could be our true self. That could be the entire definition of being yourself.

But that is not the only think that makes a human. A child learns from the society and the environment it is being brought up in. This creates the mould for a child to grow in and that isn’t even a permanent one.

We change every moment of our lives. You probably would have gathered useful information in the last few hours which could eventually change your personality. And that’s not a bad thing. This is what evolution does to us. The rule of adapting to a new environment is what makes us an intelligent species.

If we don’t change, we won’t grow!

Change is one such thing that remains permanent all our lives. Nothing else does. We are constantly open to new ideas and environment and we constantly learn from them. Being our true self would actually hamper our growth and our scope for improvement would be minimal. What we really need to teach everyone is the ability to learn from their mistakes and keep growing.

You are under no obligation to be the same person you were for a year, a month or even 15 minutes ago. You have the right to grow.

Keep making strong ideals for yourself and keep learning to actually succeed in everything you do!
